A fine George III Vinaigrette made in London in 1812 by Joseph Ash.
The Vinaigrette is broad rectangular in form and the cover is engraved with prick dot bands around a trellis work panel and vacant cartouche. The base is engraved with an outer band of foliate motifs on a scratch engraved ground surrounding prick dot borders and a central flower head.
The sides are decorated with prick dot designs and the interior displays a very unusual grille pierced and engraved with an unusual basket of flowers, surrounded by foliate sprays and a herring bone arch above. The Vinaigrette is very well marked and is in excellent condition.
