An extremely rare George III Chamberstick made in London in 1815 by Paul Storr.
The Chamberstick is circular in form with a raised outer rim decorated with lobing. The base rises to a baluster shaped section decorated with lobing and reeding and a most unusual candle socket decorated with lobing and a band of basket weave decoration. The pull off nozzle is decorated with lobing and the unusual scroll side handle displays leaf capping and a raying anthemion motif. The base displays a very crisp set of hallmarks and the pattern number 670. The nozzle is marked with PS for Paul Storr. The well is also engraved with a contemporary Armorial, the Arms being those of the Soame family. This piece is of outstanding quality, as expected from the Storr workshops. It is modelled in an innovative design and has an exceptional weight. Chamber Candlesticks are extremely rare by Paul Storr, as he produced very few over the years.
