England, circa 1830.

An exceptional pair of early 19th century carved mahogany armchairs in the manner of Thomas Chippendale. The serpentine shaped backs, seats and arm-rests upholstered and detailed with antique brass buttoning, the arm supports beautifully carved with C scrolls and scrolling acanthus leaves and exaggerated scrolling hand rest terminals. The front cabriole legs elegant curved, magnificently carved with C scrolls and further acanthus leaf foliage and terminating in inverted scroll toes, the back legs also and unusually extremely well carved and elegantly outswept.

Exceptional quality carving, superb colour and patina.
