An exceptional Georgian teacaddy with panels of flame mahogany to the top and sides surrounded with parquetry and the finest, prettiest bands of marquetry describing swagged and tassled curtains finishing above classical urns. The lid opens to reveal a mirror; the interior with a history. Originally fitted with three tea cannisters, probably wood although perhaps silver, altered in the Victorian era to two lidded compartments, and now simply divided into three but without cannisters. The lid retains its original brass handle, now with a deep, dark patina with small traces of gold lacquer.

English, circa 1770.

w:10 3/8 in x d:5 1/4 in x h:5 4/3 in (exc.handle).
