English Half Quarter Repeating Gold Hunter.

A mid 19th Century English half quarter repeating fusee lever in an engine turned gold full hunter case.  Gilt three quarter plate keywind movement with fusee and chain.  Harrison’s maintaining power.  Plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel spiral hairspring.  English table roller lever escapement, screwed in jewelling, escape and lever pivots with endstones.  Slide quarter repeating on two polished steel gongs.  Signed and numbered white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Substantial engine turned 18 carat full hunter case, recessed gold slide in the ribbed middle.  Circular cartouches on the covers, one engraved with a squirrel, the other a monogram with Grimstead below.  Maker’s mark “AS” in an oval. Number corresponding to that on the movement.
