A rare mid 18th Century Bilston patch box in the form of a watch. The box a realistic representation of a watch of the period. The dial formed as part of the case, Roman and Arabic numerals, good gilt beetle and poker hands under a fixed glass. Polychrome floral decoration to the front bezel.
The centre of the back flat, polychrome enamel scene of two gentlemen in an Italian garden. The scene oddly painted at right angles to normal. Gilt bezels hinged to allow the box to open, gilt pendant and stirrup bow. Plain white interior, wax covering the arbor for the hands impressed with a seal.
