An Elegant Lady Admiring her Present by Auguste Toulmouche (1829-1890).

An Oil on Canvas work depicting a well-heeled young lady, seated in her pink gown, admiring her new bracelet around her wrist. Signed and dated by the artist, bottom right-hand corner "A. Toulmouche 1869." In its fine carved and gilded frame.

Auguste Toulmouche (1829-1890)

Toulmouche was an accomplished French painter, born in Nantes in 1829. He started exhibiting his Genre compositions and interior scenes at the Paris Salon of 1848, eventually also earning a medal at the 1878 Exposition Universelle where he was an exhibitor. Toulmouche was made a Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur in 1870, and his paintings are in several museum collections including at the Louvre and Museum of Fine Art in Boston.
