A fine and attractive eighteenth century folding pocket lens, two plates of polished tortoiseshell form the protective case with two reeded posts of silver coloured metal that terminate in a spreading leaf design folded over and fixed to the tortoiseshell. The fold out lens swivels on one post and is retained by a frame of reeded, silver coloured metal.
