Early Serapi Heriz Long Carpet.

4.66 x 2.77 m.

Early Serapi-Heriz carpets from north-west Persia are in a class of their own. Prized for their geometric designs, fine durable construction and creative vegetable-dyed colours, they make ideal long-lasting rugs, and have always stood out for their striking tribal motifs. In our experience, Heriz carpets prove to be among the most versatile decorative weavings, with the ability to unite both modern and traditional design elements in a room.

This c. 1880 Serapi carpet is unique among examples of its type, thanks to uniformity of colour across the central field and outer borders, which adds a rare feeling of balance and space. Its warm vegetable-dyed colours have taken on a fine patina with age, especially the charming sage green spandrels in each corner.

Retained in good condition for everyday use, though with some age-related restoration, done to a high standard.

Rare in this long, narrow format, this Serapi-Heriz carpet would add style and charm to any interior.
