Pair of Dutch Delft blue and white garlic-necked vases, c.1700, decorated in the Chinese transitional style with a continuous scene to the bulbous body of Chinese dignitaries and attendants in a watery landscape with cranes and rockwork below a ruyi head band, the slender necks with floral design, one garlic head with a panel containing a landscape scene, the other with scrolling flower and phoenix pattern, height: 52 cm. ; 20.1/2 in.; condition: small chips, large one to the rim of one and the other rim with restoration. A vase with similar decoration can be found in the collection of the National Trust at Lytes Cary Manor, Somerset (NT 254250)
