Art Deco bronze figure Dancer of Carthage by Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet. A stunning and well modelled bronze figure of an exotically dressed woman dancing with a snake. Very finely cast and with excellent hand finished detail. The patinated bronze showing a faint gold wash to parts of her hair and dress. Signed in the bronze and standing on a marble base. A superb and impressive work of art.

Excellent original condition. Made in France circa 1920.

Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet (1880–1950) A French sculptor of Belgian birth who worked during the early-to-mid 20th century. She studied in Paris and was a pupil of Jef Lambeaux. The subject matter of her best known works was primarily Arab female dancers. The majority of her career output in sculpture can be classified as being of the Art Deco style. Colinet was a frequent exhibitor at the Salon des Artistes Francais and Salon des Independents art exhibitions in Paris. Her sculptures, most of which depicted beautifully figured, energized, and dramatic female forms, were exhibited posthumously at the Paris Salon for nearly 30 years.
