Contemporary Sultanabad carpet in the tradition of the 19th-century Persian Sultanabad carpets. They came to be known as "Ziegler carpets", so named after the Manchester company of Ziegler & Co. which was a major producer as well as importer of this type of decorative carpet with an open field of floral designs.
Sultanabad carpets are still very popular with interior designers and private individuals who are looking for an understated, elegant feel to their homes. The carpet in hand has a very subtle ground colour of light tones of turquoise and blue.
