The Coach Panel of Sir John Palmer Acland Bart

It was in 1771, on the death of Arthur Acland, that the Fairfield Estate at Stogursey in Somerset passed to John Palmer Acland (1756-1823). He remodelled what was an Elizabethan manor house soon after inheriting the estate and employed Richard Carver to make further alterations in 1815. Sir John took the additional surname of Palmer in 1818 and was created a baronet that same year.

This is his fine armorial coach panel painted with his coat of arms at around the end of George III's, circa 1820.
16 3/8 in x 12 5/8 in.
