A George III Chippendale period tea caddy veneered in snakewood; the lid with a rococo swan neck handle which opens to reveal an interior divided into three sections; having barber's pole stringing to each edge and raised on ormolu ogee bracket feet.

Snakewood is a rare tree from South America and gets its name from the unusual snake skin like figuring of its timber.
