A Chinese Famille Rose Sauce Tureen, Cover and Stand, Qianlong (1736-1795).
Of circular section; the tureen with straight walls and flat handles extending vertically; the domed cover shaped to fit and with a single flower knop. Decorated in rich famille rose enamels with gilt highlighting; the walls of the tureen and well of the stand with European-style floral sprays and smaller sprigs; the rim of stand and cover with an elaborate border of flower heads and leaves with fish roe diaper outlined with gilt scrolls; the flower knop gilded.
