The four incised polychrome panels on a black ground with figures pursuing everyday activities amongst pavilions in a fantastical garden landscape. The scene is enclosed by a triple border. Firstly a continuous band of pairs of dragons flanking a ‘shou’ character, secondly a wide band displaying the ‘100 treasures’ and thirdly a narrow geometric band. Unusually the back is plain.
Originally a twelve fold screen. Predominantly original colours with some losses. There is some infill painting on the edges to match up the panels.

Each panel 103” (262cm) high x 19 ½” (49cm) wide.
Overall width 78” (196cm).
