Chinese canton enamel inkwell, Qianlong (1736-95) of hexagonal lobed form, the sides decorated in enamels with panels of peony and aster alternating with figurative scenes, including a lady and scholar on a veranda, a lady approaching a pilgrim, and a couple walking in a rocky garden, the indented divides with black and gilt foliate scroll against a pink ground, the top with scrolling gilt against a pale blue ground, three ink holes and a circular aperture with lid decorated with a chrysanthemum motif in pink, green and gilt, all raised on three bracket feet.
