This extraordinary casket with its complex series of grotesque sea creatures, shells and star motifs echoes nautical mythology and the growing fashion for grottos.
Cracks to verre eglomise, refreshments to gilt and now lacking iron strapwork supports for the feet. The interior re-papered.
