Franz Xavier Bergman was the son of Franz Bergman (1830-1894) who established The Bergman Foundry in the 1860’s. After his father’s death, Bergman continued the business developing the cold painted bronze groups including animals, oriental scenes and erotica. Bergman is arguably the most famous of the Viennese cold-painted bronze artists and with his great attention to detail and use of colours remains one of the most popular.
