Bakshaish carpet.
An extremely rare early antique Bakshaish persian carpet woven around 1850-1860 with beautiful soft yellows and pale blues. Often these carpets are also known as Serapi carpets, due to their pale ivory white and yellow dyes. A vibrant geometric design with the Ivory central medallion complementing the soft blue border. A remarkable carpet in excellent original condition. Bakshaish is a region very near to Heriz in the north-west of Persia, they tended to be softer in colour and have a geometric design of leaves and birds.
Use earlier dyes such as the yellow and ivory tones. The pile on this carpet is high with no areas of restoration. A rare collectors item ideal for any room as a statement piece or to furnish around.
