An Art Deco Period Sautoir.

In the Egyptian Revival taste, the chain formed of Phenolic Eqyptian style beads with gilt metal connectors, a central rectangular fringed panel set with a pate de verre "jade' green scarab.

News of the excavations and discoveries in Egypt during the 1920s created a renewed fascination with antiquity which was reflected in all areas of the decorative arts and fashion.

The luxurious objects being excavated stimulated the jewellers of the period to create exotic jewels incorporating Egyptian motifs and symbols, using a palette of rich colours created by the gems,Lapis Lazuli, corals, jades and enamels.
