A muted palette of peach tones, off-white un-dyed wool combined with a light green border this really is a wonderful decorative antique Ushak carpet.  Dating from the late 19th century, the condition is extremely good, as this carpet has a medium wool pile height all over.  Recently back from our workshop it has been professionally cleaned and ends/fringes and sides have been tidied up where necessary.  It is ready to be used on the floor for another 100 plus years.

Ushak carpets were woven in the Anatolian highlands south of Istanbul where they used extremely soft wool and using the larger Turkish knot made them weave more open designs than Persian carpets. They are increasingly desirable today due to their often softer palette than Persian carpets, thus making them easy to place in a drawing room, bedroom or study. With larger motifs and more open designs than finer Persian carpets, combined with gentle colours they are increasingly popular to use to build a scheme around or place in an already decorated room.

By requesting a home visit, we will happily show you this antique Ushak in your own home at a convenient time on a day of your choosing.  We frequently travel all over the UK showing our collection of antique and contemporary carpets to private clients and interior designers.

Alternatively book in a showroom visit, we are open Monday to Saturday by appointment.
