An ancient and interesting Anatolian antique Ushak carpet woven around 1870-1880 with a beautiful leaf and flower design. The variety of greens and gold tones are wonderful early dyes, the pinks and cherry reds for the background design are a very unusual palette and have faded in areas due to the age of this piece.

Ushak's were woven in Western Anatolia which was one of the largest rug production areas since the Ottoman Empire. This Anatolian carpet has an almost contemporary feel to it and would work in a modern space as well as traditional. We clean every carpet before offering it for sale and make sure the ends and fringes are secured.

Due to the age of this carpet some old areas of restoration are apparent, with some old reweaves at the ends/fringe area. There are some areas of lower pile in the main field, but no thread bare areas or holes to speak of. The general pile is very good, with a medium wool pile height on this 140 year old carpet from Ushak in Turkey.Stock number
