This antique Tibetan tsuktruk dating to the late 19th century is woven in wool on a wool foundation. Four narrow strips of around 18 cm width have been assembled to form the complete piece.
The dye is derived from the madder root providing a warm, saturated red which is nicely abrashed, with subtle variations in the red. This gives the tsuktruk a feel of calm and clear simplicity.
It is a piece of beautiful textile art with a contemporary feel, to be used on the wall or on the floor.
