Antique Persian Injelas village rug from the Hamadan district, made in the mid to late 19th century.
The all-over boteh design, which is beautifully balanced, and the abrash in the red background give this rug a rhythmic simplicity.
Wool on cotton; "old" colours, including a soft, pale green in the main border.
The rug has minor repairs, with the sides replaced, but is overall in very good condition.
