An Antique Heriz carpet with a beautiful mina-khani floral design, this design is floral motifs connected by scrolling vines. A wonderful pattern and rarer to find on Heriz carpets, it is used on Caucasian pieces and even Veramin carpets. Woven in the late 19th century the lovely soft sandy toned corner spandrels compliment the brick orangery red tones. We love the variety of blues on this carpet too, delicate pale blues and deep indigo blues too.
Beautifully well drawn carpet with great detail. This carpet has been woven by weavers at the top of their game in Heriz as the design is well constructed and the central medallion has been beautifully executed. The pile is fairly high on this piece with a few lower areas of pile but in general very good order it would be a durable addition to a room, working with contemporary or traditional furniture.
Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration, made in the north-west of Persia these handwoven works of art always have variations from one piece to another. Some draw influences from further north into the Caucasus and vivid colours like this particular carpet. A decorative yet practical carpet which has been used for over 100 years and has already stood the test of time.
