A fabulous antique Heriz carpet from the early 20th Century, dating around 1900-1910 and in with amazing yellow dyes in the corner design!  Wonderful soft wool pile can be seen throughout this rich and vibrant antique carpet from North-West Persia.  Heriz have always been regarded as tough, decorative rugs and this wonderful example is a prime example.  With stunning natural dyes, the pale blue medallion is great, and the yellow is a rare colour to find in a piece from this region, more often using darker blues or reds for the corner spandrels.  This golden yellow dye is quite something and adds lots of life to this tough decorative Heriz carpet.

It is getting increasingly rare to find antique Persian Heriz carpets of this quality in such original condition.  Ideal for a drawing room, dining room, study or entrance hall, included in the price is our sturdy underlay, helping sit safely and flat on any floor type, enhancing its appearance too.

Request a home visit to view this stunning antique Heriz in the privacy of your own home. We travel all over the UK showing our carpets and rugs in-situ to help you make the right choice. A professional service we have offered for the last 30 years.

50 kilometres south of the city of Heriz lies another city called Sharabian.  This city was known for producing much finer and tightly woven Heriz carpets with intricate designs and excellent dyes. Woven in East Azerbaijan (North-West Persia) these decorative Heriz carpets have always been regarded as beautiful, tough objects of decoration for the floor.  This piece is no exception, beautifully hand-woven which gorgeous colours of yellow, pale blues and warm red tones.  In outstanding condition throughout, this carpet has been used over the last 100 years and has just been professionally washed by our workshop.

The reason Heriz rugs are so tough is that Mount Sabalan is located close to Heriz and sits on a major deposit of copper. Traces of copper in the drinking water for the sheep produces high quality wool that is far more resilient than wool from other areas.
