Caucasian runner from the Gendje area with the popular field design of diagonal stripes filled with flowers and occasional animal motifs. The sequence of borders, with two minor borders in a meandering floral pattern enclosing the main border of a chain of octagons, is also typical of carpets from this area. Vibrant colours, all naturally dyed. The runner dates to about 1900. It has some repairs and some corrosion in the black, with the top end very slightly reduced, and small areas of slight wear, but is overall in good condition.
