An Art Deco patinated and parcel silvered bronze sculpture depicting three flying seagulls, swooping close to the rising sea swell. Set over an angular black stone base. Signed to cast and stamped Etling Paris to back of base.

Alexandre Kelley was born in Budapest in 1874. He studied under the direction of Imre Karoly Simay), a celebrated animal sculptor, painter and engraver in Hungary.

His sculptures were exhibited in the stands of Goldscheider and of Etling at the Exposition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts in 1925.

Among his many bronze animal sculptures, he produced dramatic, sentimental and decorative representations. He sometimes mixed bronze and ivory, and sculpted in marble or other stones.
