An endearing early 20th Century French bronze study of a mouse gnawing its way through a walnut with excellent detail and colour, signed C.Masson and raised on a naturalistic granite base.

Clovis Masson - Mouse & Walnut
Clovis Edmond Masson ( French, 1838 ~ 1913) Born in Paris on the 7th March 1838, Clovis Masson was a student of Santiago, Barye and Rouillard. He regularly exhibited at the Salon des Beaux Arts as well as the Salon des Artistes Francais where he received an honourable mention in 1890. Masson most famously and exclusively produced work representing big game and deer.
