Rare 19th Century Florentine Wall Hanging or coverlet with armorial and floral medallions.

Italy, circa 1850.

Worked in Florentine stitch in a brilliant palette with diamond shape trellised medallions with two crowns and an eagle in each top corner and stylized flowers.

Edged with metallic gold braid with two bands of braid down the centre of the cover the top third embroidered with two crowns in each corner, the two inner crowns with bead and metal thread details above a heraldic figure on each side, the one on the left side with bead and metal thread details.

The sides and bottom edges faced in the original pale blue and yellow plaited silk fringe with a decorative band of fringing across the top third of the hanging.
