18th Century Spanish Octagonal Lantern.

Exceptional and massive, 18th century, Spanish iron and brass, octagonal lantern.

Spain, circa 1750.

Spanish metalwork is renowned for its quality and this magnificent lantern made for a nobleman exudes gravitas.

- The six coronets around the top and the bottom sides suggest that this lantern was made for an aristocratic residence and it exudes gravitas.
- It is an exceptionally rare, massive size and in excellent condition, currently hanging and working.
- The framework is iron and the ornamentation executed in brass which elevates the aesthetic into a luxury item and reflects the light.
- The ornamentation is characteristic of the Baroque period with six simulated flaming torchères around the sides.
- 20th century conversion to electricity.
