18th Century Antique Mahogany Chest.
A rare George III 18th century period Irish chest.
The mahogany veneered top with a thumbnail moulded edge retains a good colour and grain, above a brushing slide. The brushing slide is made in mahogany and sits above one long and three short drawers to each pedestal and flanked by a knee hole pull drawer.
The oak lined drawers are fitted with the original gilt brass locks and retain a simple elegant drop neck handle. The handles that are fitted to the chest are unusual and rather plain but very charming and the fact they are original adds to the overall elegance of the piece.
The chest is raised on mahogany veneered bracket feet that sit underneath a thumbnail moulded edge. The elongated feet are original and figured with an inverted centre moulding to the corners which softens the overall appearance.
