Welsh BADA members Tim Bowen Antiques have selected a fine collection of country furniture and folk art for their latest July 2016 catalogue, with most pieces originating from Wales.

Highlights include a very good late 18th century English comb back Windsor chair. Made from ash and elm, with a bold pierced “Country Chippendale” style back splat, the chair still retains much of the original green and later black paint.

A magnificent oak Eisteddfod chair made for the Machynlleth Eisteddfod of 1898, bearing the inscription Maglona which refers to a Roman Fort near Machynlleth. The Chair is illustrated in “The Bardic chair – Y Gadair Farddol” by Richard Bebb & Sioned Williams, Saer Books 2009.

A beautiful Welsh lovespoon made from sycamore, circa 1850. The spoon features a good patination and extravagant chip carved decoration with a single heart.

And a magnificent four step Welsh elm spoon rack circa 1820. The beautifully shaped rack comes together with a collection of 24 hard-carved sycamore “Cawl” spoons.
