About the object

Fine George III period mahogany serpentine dressing-chest of small proportions being only 38” (96.5cm) wide;  the top drawer with a baize-lined brushing slide fitted with compartments, boxes, trays and divisions.  The drawers oak-lined with original brass handles, locks and ivory escutcheons. The canted corners inlaid with chevron-grained flutes and the top with chevron-inlaid rosewood cross-banding and black-and-white boxwood cable stringing.  Standing on bold ogee bracket feet, with fine mouldings. 


A handsome and fine piece in excellent condition.
