About

Salamon Fine Art

Salamon Fine Art is an Italian gallery specialising in Fine Prints and Contemporary Figurative Art. It is owned by Lorenza Salamon, and located in the heart of Milan.

Founded in Turin in 1950 by her grandparents, Ferdinando and Teresa Salamon, the firm opened as an Old Master Prints gallery: l’Arte Antica.

Since 1953, the family gallery has exhibited at several art fairs, including Internazionale dell’Antiquariato di Milano, Biennale dell’Antiquariato di Firenze, and TEFAF in Maastricht.

The gallery further flourished in 1968, when the couple’s eldest son Harry brought the gallery to Milan under the name of Gabinetto delle Stampe. It was here that in 1986 Lorenza laid her professional roots, together with her brother Matteo, studying old, modern, and contemporary fine prints.

Her experience and studies of the fine prints market has been gathered, among numerous other publications, in the essay Saper vedere la stampa d’arte, (Know fine prints) published by Mondadori Arte (2010) and translated in French (2012) and Chinese (2019).

Starting from 1992, Lorenza widened her interests by selecting emerging and recognized contemporary artists who have mastered their techniques.

Etchers, painters, and sculptors transformed the gallery into a prestigious benchmark for Italian contemporary figurative art.

Concurrently, an encounter and twenty year long partnership with the extraordinary painter Marzio Tamer allowed the gallery to further develop a section dedicated to contemporary art inspired by nature and wildlife, which has been the flagship of the Salamon gallery for years.

In 2000, Lorenza and her father Harry developed one of the first old master prints e-commerce: Prints on Web, which closed in 2015. From that moment onwards the gallery continued to work under the Salamon&C trademark.

In 2010, following the wish of Federica Galli,  one of Italy’s most acclaimed etchers, Lorenza built and took the lead of the Fondazione Federica Galli, an Italian Foundation that strives to develop interest in printmaking in memory of her founder who passed away in 2009.

In 2018 Lorenza opened a new gallery, the Salamon Fine Art, specialising in Works on Paper including old and modern fine prints, and Contemporary Figurative Art. Thanks to the technical abilities of the artists represented, and the care of the materials with which the sculptures, etchings, and paintings are realized, the gallery is able to propose long lasting and valuable contemporary masterpieces characterized by a timeless and universal language.
