John Eskenazi

John Eskenazi joined his father’s family business in Milan in 1977 when Eskenazi was already an established name in the Oriental art world.

John moved to London in the 1990s and set up a gallery in Mayfair, building on his reputation as an expert in Indian and Himalayan art as well as Asian art and textiles.

Works of art purchased from the company are now housed in major private collections and over forty museums and institutions worldwide.

He was instrumental in setting up Asian Art in London and London Sculpture Week and is also a founder partner of the highly regarded publication ‘The Art Newspaper’.

Stock

John Eskenazi’s stock contains important works of art ranging from 1st century Bengali sculptures to 10th century bronze statues from Cambodia.

Through his extensive research and travel John has sourced and acquired rare and important works of art for many museums the world over.

These include the British Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Art Institute of Chicago and the Musee du Louvre in Paris.

He has also curated, or co-curated, many specialist exhibitions at leading galleries including the Royal Academy of Arts in London.
