Hatherell studied at the Royal Academy Schools and specialised in genres, historical and Arthurian legend. He illustrated many books as well as for magazines The Graphic, Harpers and The Century. "The Garden, 1910" is a lovely little oil painting on panel. Measuring 6"x 9", it is signed lower left, dated 1910 and dedicated to P. Dadd, a fellow artist and illustrator.
