A carved miniature model of a Welsh cabinet on chest, with ceramic handles.

North Wales circa 1880

Miniature model chests, bureaus and similar pieces of folk art were carved by quarrymen of North Wales and most date from the late 19th century. Many were probably made to decorate their own homes and were given as gifts or entered into competition at local eisteddfodau.
