A very good late 17th/early 18th century Welsh oak dining table in lovely original condition.
The whole table has a wonderful untouched surface and colour.
The top is made from four well figured book-matched planks with two end-cleats. It also has a traditional reversible top – one side was used for dining and the other side would have been used for food preparation or baking when it is flipped over.
The base has four square legs with beaded carving & stop-chamfered corners which are united by four stretchers also with beaded carving. The stretchers offer good stability but are low enough for chairs to sit above them and be tucked under.
Mid-Wales circa 1680 – 1720.
