Wedgwood Fairyland Lustre Vase decorated with the "Tree Serpent" design on a flame ground. Designed by Daisy Makeig Jones.
Daisy was employed by Wedgwood to help transform the fortunes of the factory as their Jasper Ware fell out of favour. She created a number of fantastic designs using lustres and gilding and it was highly sought after for over a decade in the 1920s.
The Tree serpent design depicts a macabre scene of a Serpent Entwined around a tree reaching for a nest of birds whist being viewed by babies at the base.
