Walnut 18th Century Chest On Chest.

A Delightful Early 18th Century George I Walnut Chest On Chest, Or Tallboy, Having Superbly Figured Veneers, Banded Decoration And Replaced Brass Handles Throughout, The Top With Two Short & Three Long Drawers Flanked By Elegant Canted Corners With Reeded Decoration, Above Two Short And Two Long Drawers To Base, Raised On Original Shaped Bracket Feet.

A superb example of its type this particular walnut tallboy remains in excellent condition throughout with very little restoration to speak of aside from the usual cleaning, waxing and general tidying up before being placed on sale.

It also has replacement brass open plate handles, however these have been extremely well thought out, placed through the original holes and are of the exact style which this piece would have sported at the start of its life.

Tallboys, or Chests On Chests as they are often known are such useful, functional and practical pieces of furniture. This item itself is as fit for purpose as the day which it was made and then there is the added bonus of how attractive it is.

The bracket feet are original, a relatively rare occurrence on items of this age which have suffered heavy usage over the many years of their lives.

It also has nicely figured and banded ends, constructed from well figured walnut, which of course means it looks just as beautiful even from a side on viewing angle.
