Delightful and very realistic Victorian sterling silver whistle in the shape of an Irish Wolfhound’s head.
Maker:  S. Mordan & Co. London 1886.

Engraved on the underside of the mouthpiece with contemporary initials, WJC.
The full set of hallmarks are clearly stamped on the reverse of the whistle. The makers mark S.M is also stamped on the reverse. The M is slightly rubbed but very visible.

Sampson Mordan & Co were renowned for their innovative and excellent designs for items of small silver such as pencils, pens, whistles and other items.

This novel and charming piece could be used for many occasions and fits neatly in a pocket. The piece is of very good gauge.

Excellent condition with very little wear and in good working order.
