A Victorian Silver double compartment stamp box made in 1899 by James and William Deakin of Birmingham.The stamp box belonged to Norman Hay Forbes a famous doctor and academic author( 1863-1916)see biography.The box stand on four small ball feet and still contains the original Victorian stamps inside the lid .It is engraved with the crest of the Forbes clan and its motto Lonach ( Gaelic war cry) and the initials NHF(Norman Hay Forbes) and still retains its original gilt interior.
