A very fine and extensive Victorian silver fiddle thread and shell pattern flatware service for 12 place settings-all made in 1901 by Joseph Rodgers of Sheffield(2 teaspoons 1843 London).The service is of excellent weight and condition and features round bowl soup spoons (which are rare 120 years old).The set comprises -12 round bowl soup spoons -24 table forks-12 dessert spoons -12 dessert forks -12 tea spoons -6 table /serving spoons -1 basting spoon -2sauce ladles. In addition there are 12 table knives and 12 dessert knives of more modern date( stainless steel blades) to match (105 pieces).The service is available without the knives or the extra table forks which were often supplied in Victorian flatware services for extra courses or fish courses.A lovely set in superb condition.£12500-or £11000 without extra 12 table forks.
