A rare Victorian silver Vinaigrette of shaped rectangular form, the base and sides with engine turned decoration and a vacant cartouche.
The lid engraved with a scene depicting Old Balmoral Castle and lands with small buildings against hills and a rayed sky within a decorative border. The silver gilt grille bordered and crossed to form four triangles each pierced with a scrolling frond.

Queen Victoria and Prince Albert rented Old Balmoral Castle in 1848 demolishing it in 1856 on moving to the 'new castle'.
