Victorian Brass English Fusee Ships Clock by Dent, London.

A large brass ships bulkhead clock.

Eight inch enamel dial with Roman numerals, ‘blued’ steel hands and signed ‘Dent, London’.

Heavy cast brass bezel with side ‘keep’ and bevelled glass.

Substantial eight day chain Fusee movement with large lever escapement and heavy brass rectangular plates.

Circa 1890.

The Dent name is perhaps most well known for being the maker of the great clock of the Houses of Parliament known as Big Ben, installed in 1859. Dent was also clockmaker to Queen Victoria and the Prince of Wales.
