A Very Good Quality And Extremely Well Figured Mid 19th Century
Victorian Period Burr Walnut Dwarf Open Bookcase Having Superbly
Figured Top Above Four Adjustable Shelves Raised On Original Plinth

(Bookcases of all sizes, shapes and forms have of course been popular
throughout history due to their obvious purpose and function. Open
bookcases, particularly low ones began becoming popular towards
the end of the 18th century and throughout the regency, then victorian
periods. This example is particularly nice due to being constructed from
superbly figured walnut veneers. It is also a nice narrow size, meaning it
can be used in just about any space imaginable. The shelves are also
adjustable allowing the owner to house a variety of different size books
although please note that over the many years of use a few of the
holes for shelf supports have worn significantly leaving the supports
a little loose in them. However by far the majority are absolutely fine
and therefore the combination of the being highly figured decorative
veneers, a narrow size and adjustable shelves mean that this bookcase
sits very much at the high end of the desirability scale)
