A rare William and Mary Oak Table.

The moulded edged top above a deep double-arched frieze with a pendant finial.

Standing on finely turned faceted tapering legs with a turned collar joined by a well drawn elaborate cross-over stretcher centred by an urn finial and ending in compressed bun feet.

This rare and untouched piece of William and Mary furniture has a sophistication which belies the simplicity of its form. It is a remarkable survival which has never previously been in the Antiques Trade. Probably made in Dorset. It would appear that this Table had always been in St Marys Church, Winterborne Stickland, Dorset until it was moved to Athelhampton House, Dorset.
