Very Large antique Oushak carpet.

Antique Oushak carpets of West Anatolia have a rich history since the beginning of the 16th century. During the 19th century, the Oushak region becomes an important centre of furnishing carpets, particularly for the Western market. These decorative pieces are generally found in historic homes in Europe and the United Kingdom. Antique Oushak carpets are highly sought after today for their large-scale drawing, decorative appeal, and use of a softer colour palette.

A beautiful early Oushak carpet with a bold graphic drawing and a wonderful array of muted vegetable dyed colours that have aged nicely.

In well-preserved condition for everyday use, still retaining its borders on all sides.

A handsome example, rare in this large format with the versatility to blend in a wide variety of interior styles.
